📝Do laptop users tend to write verbatim notes in non-lecture setting?
Mueller & Oppenheimer2014 shows that laptops users take verbatim notes in lecture (fixed-time) settings. But may the situation be different in non-lecture setting?
As a personal anecdote, I copied passages verbatim even when taking notes by hand.
On the other hand, copying passages from text documents on computer is even easier.
As of my stance is that taking non-verbatim notes with laptop is hard. It’s much easier to do with pen and paper (even though I know that I should take notes non-verbatim, I still copy/retype passages when taking notes on laptop).
As of my stance is that taking non-verbatim notes with the laptop is possible—just takes discipline and getting used to it.
