Intuitive thinking can jump to conclusions ignoring some important aspects. This may lead to wrong solutions unless they are verified.
With complex problem solving, solutions formulated in an intuitive way have to be worked out in a rational way and then tested by the usual procedures.
Expert clinicians intentionally avoid any tendency toward automatization as they often lose control of many relevant aspects of a clinical encounter. Ericson [sic] called this ‘deliberate practice.’ [§ Deliberate Practice] —Pena2010
