Humans treat different animals differently according to their species.

Examples:

• Pets (cats, dogs) are treated much better than general animals.

• Cattle, chicken are treated badly

• Fish is largely not considered (it’s a good food)

• Insects are ignored

• Sacred animals?

• Animal testing

• Hunting

• Lab rats

• Scavengers are seen as lowly animals

• Human Supremacy is the ultimate Speciesism.

Why?

• Speciesism is a justification for abusing animals. (See Reasoning is self-biased)

• Animals that we can exploit are treated worse.

• If animal is hard to exploit (not valuable) they are treated better (unless they get in our way).

• Aesthetics/size
