đź“ťArtist vs. Entertainer
- source
There is a dichotomy between an artist and an entertainer.
Entertainer seeks to please the audience. The applause is the end in itself. They are good in delivering what audience wants. The downside is that applause and ticket sale are extrinsic motivation.
On the other hand, the artist is interested in expressing themselves. They want people to understand them and join. Artists are intrinsically motivated. The downside is that artists might think that every idea their mind comes with is important to share.
(As with all dichotomies, nobody is a pure artist or a pure entertainer—we’re all a mix.)
