Confirmation bias is hard to recognize and it may look scientific/rational to you — you do go out and collect more information, it’s just that information you pay attention to is subconsciously filtered.

This makes confirmation bias hard to beat. You may think that you just need to seek out more information but the opposite-opinion information may still get filtered out.
