🖋Two roads to success

There are only two ways to be successful.

The first one is achieving success. You know that—trying hard and doing things, whether building a startup, getting a promotion, raising a family, or even becoming happier.

The second option is also well-known, but you never think of it as a success.

Cambridge English Dictionary defines “success” as:

  1. the achieving of the results wanted or hoped for

  2. something that achieves positive results

“The achieving of the results wanted or hoped for.” That sounds subjective! And that is the key.

The second option is letting go—dropping your hopes and wants, so you no longer need the thing you wanted. It might sound grim, but it doesn’t have to be. It only sounds that way until you are on the other side.

I’m sure when you were a kid, you had some wild desires like becoming an astronaut, a pirate, or a trucker (as little me). Likely, you haven’t achieved that goal (at least I haven’t). Are you a failure now? No, not really. Was dropping this desire a big thing? Likely, not. It’s pretty funny to look back at your old desires; you can even laugh at them.

And that is the way it is. Once you stop desiring something, it suddenly stops being a big deal.

Didn’t become a trucker? whatever, that was a weird desire to have 😆

Didn’t become a millionaire? Why I even wanted that? 😅

Still not famous? Haha, that was a funny one 😂

I don’t claim that one way is better than the other. Chances are, you might even be allergic to the second one. That’s fine. It still might come in handy when the time comes.
